A SURVEY by a youth group on performance of Members of Parliament (MPs) from Central Province rated Gatanga legislator Peter Kenneth the best performer. Youth leaders said Gatanga Constituency in Thika District has recorded tremendous growth and development during the tenure of Kenneth. This is the second time the constituency has been recognised. It was voted the best in managing Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Central Province by the National Management Committee Secretariat.

During the exercise, the youth forum scrutinised the use of CDF resources, and the relationship of MPs with the local leaders and departmental heads. Kenneth, who is also the assistant minister for Finance, emerged the winner and he was crowned number one in absentia. Gatanga Constituency has recorded rapid growth and development. Infrastructure has been improved and water supply extended. Gatundu North MP Patrick Kariuki Muiruri was lauded for his good relations with his constituents.

He was also hailed for prioritizing education issues where over Shs 71 million of CDF money has been allocated. Juja Member of Parliament William Kabogo was described as a non-performer who has done very little for Juja people in his four year of leadership. However, he was described as fighter who fought to the last minute to see that the Mungiki sect in his constituency is wiped out. Kabogo was also voted the best mobiliser. Kangema Member of Parliament John Michuki was rated as the best disciplinarian for fighting tirelessly to see thatthereis sanity in matatu industry when he was the minister for Transport and Communications.

He also received credit for setting pace as the father of the province and setting a good example of being corrupt free. Joseph Kamotho who is the MP for Mathioya was described as an opportunist who is always favored by party euphoria and as one who offers tutorial skills to upcoming politicians. Some MPs scored zero since they are so dormant and even unknown to their electorate.
